Let’s Talk Poo 9 (Day 2, Infusion 2)

WARNING: POTENTIALLY GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS AHEAD

Day 2!  Ashley managed to hold her first infusion last night for 5 full hours with very little trouble.  This morning’s infusion donation came around 11:30am and was ready for Ashley by 12:00.  Today Lee had enough donation material for two bottles, as suggested.  He managed to get one cream consistency again, but the other much closer to paint consistency.  He’s getting it dialed in.

Our doctor suggested we try a mini flush before each infusion after the first day.  If Lee has extra “donation” after making the two bottles of paint thickness infusions, then he can make a couple of watery infusions for her to simply flush herself with prior to the retention infusions.  We opted to skip it today as Ashley still had an empty bowel at this point.

My husband and I had a client lunch today.  I was a little hesitant to leave Ashley alone because this is still new to us and I was worried she may need me.  She assured me she’d be fine so we went ahead and met the client.

We returned home about 3pm.  As we walked in the door I heard very loud music and could smell cleaning products (Ashley cleans house as her “rent”).  She and her brother were dancing in the living room while she vacuumed!  I immediately assumed she had already evacuated her infusion.  She assured me she had not!

Ashley’s disposition today is incredible.  While she really hasn’t been sick lately, she’s been tired and kind of feeling like she was in a rut.  She expressed to me that she woke up feeling alive, energetic and full of motivation.  She’s been a little Tasmanian devil all afternoon!

Total retention time today: 10 hours and counting!

OH and we found another high fiber side dish that was a big hit!  Barley & Wild Rice Pilaf with Pomegranate Seeds.  I imagine if pomegranates aren’t in season, that Craisins would be really good too!
