I had fully intended on being better about posting these updates, but life gets in the way. I am SO happy to report that Ashley is doing fantastic! She’s been officially completely weaned off of her Sulfasalazine for about 3 weeks now. She’s had no symptoms at all. Typically it takes just a few days of being off of her meds for her to feel her symptoms start creeping back.
I’m cautiously optimistic. It’s possible she just managed the flare with the medication, but it’s also possible that the FMT has done its job. As I’ve said before, I don’t think I’ll be claiming 100% success until Aug 2015. I’d like to see her go 2 years with no issues. However, at 1 year, I think I’ll be feeling pretty confident. =)
Ashley’s most recent ‘post FMT survey’ is below. She reports that her bowel movements and gas passing “smells like dad’s”. Is it crazy that this news makes me really happy? That, to me, is proof that Lee’s microbiota are happily multiplying in their new home. Yay!!
We are continuing with the Probioplex Intensive Care (a tablet form of the exact things microbiota eat…we call it “bug food”) as instructed by her naturopath. Other than that, she is supplement and medication free.
